Voluntary Interpretation and Translation Service

What is VITS?
The Voluntary Interpretation and Translation Service (VITS) is a service provided by Open Doors Hull which was launched in Spring 2014.

What do we do?

How do we work?
We interview our volunteers to ascertain their knowledge of English and provide them with training in interpreting and translation through monthly meetings. Our clients contact us and we put them in touch with the relevant volunteer who will be able to interpret or translate in the language required. Our volunteers are not paid but we reimburse them for any travel expense they may have incurred.

What languages do we offer?
At present we have volunteers working in Amharic, Arabic, Farsi, Kinyarwanda, Lithuanian, Chinese, Oromic, Polish, Somali, Swahili, Tamil, Tigrina, Turkish, Urdu.
