Open Doors Events which are going to be held between 1st July and 10th July are as follows
9th July (Wednesday)- VITS informal meeting at 2pm at the Princes Avenue Methodist Church. The purpose of the meeting is for the volunteer interpreters to meet together, share their experiences, ask some questions, build each other up and strengthen our relationship as a group. It will be an opportunity to give an update about the service project and on what is happening. Refreshments will also be available.
10th July (Thursday)- Open Doors Hull is having its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Princes Avenue Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to be there at 7pm as refreshments will be served before the meeting. The meeting will then start at 7.30 with following scheduled order.

Open Doors Hull in partnership with British Red Cross and Hull City of Sanctuary would like to invite everyone to participate in a very brief diversity event titled “United Prayer for Refugees and Peace in Community”. This will be a part of our Refugee week celebration on Thursday 19th June 2014 from 11:15am to 12 pm. It is being held at the Princes Avenue Methodist Church, Hull HU5 3QP.
We hope to bring the leaders or representatives from different faiths and civic groups, police and the local authority together to promote peace and social harmony. The participants will be asked to express their feelings in a few words through pray, poetry, Music, and reading from their Holy books during the prayer service. All participants are welcomed to join us for A Big Diversity Lunch at 12pm
TO ALL VITS VOLUNTEERS
We would like to invite you all to attend a training session about the Code of Conduct of volunteer interpreters.
It will be held at the Open Doors, Princes Avenue Methodist Church, at 2pm on 28/05/2014.
We plan for this session to last one hour.

The newest part of the Open Doors Project is a service called the Voluntary Interpretation and Translation Service (VITS). The service is designed to provide volunteer interpreters who are able to help break the language barriers in our society today. It is our hope that the volunteers will be available to Open Doors and other local organisations.
The launch event for this new service is scheduled to be held on 19th March, 2014 at Princes Avenue Methodist Church , Hull at 1.30pm. We plan for the event should last nearly one hour and where refreshments will be available thirty minutes before the event.
